FOCUS 2.0 - Letters
Letters
Producing letters for patients is a similar process to FOCUS 1.0. The main difference is that the word processor used to create the letter templates is no longer Microsoft Word. This should save license fee costs and should also save support calls that we regularly receive for Word related issues. The letter writing functionality will be available in 2 flavours.
The first allows you to select the predefined letter template (as shown in the screenshot on the left), then merge it into a letter which can then be printed and sent to the patient. Letter templates are accessible from this screen or via the maintenance menu items.
The second flavour will be adapted from the letter writing facilities in FOCUS Clinical Records and will mostly reflect the functionality from there with the history of letters sent to the patient shown. No screenshot or prototype is available to show at this time.
The following screenshot shows a letter template in the internal word processor within the application:

You can see that the formatting options used by most people in Microsoft Word (or equivalent) are available and the list of fields available for merging into the template is shown on the right of the screen. There are more fields available for this purpose in FOCUS 2.0 than in FOCUS 1.0. For customers with the Clinical Records option the list of fields will extend to the extra information recorded in Clinical Records also.
