FOCUS 2.0 Expose' - Patient Rx

Patient Rx

Again, the patient Rx screen (as shown below) has remained largely the same as in FOCUS 1.0. Re-training on this section shouldn’t be necessary as we have retained all the familiarity and arrangement of the screen from FOCUS 1.0.

The main visual change that we have made is to expand the prisms so that the component parts are recorded, rather than the single text string used in FOCUS 1.0. When entering sphere, cyl, axis and Add values, there are keyboard shortcut facilities to enable rapid entry if desired. For example, when entering a sphere, cyl or add, the Up/Down cursor arrows move the value 1 dioptre up or down, and the left/right cursor arrows move the value 0.25 dioptre up or down; for Axes, the cursor arrows move the values by 10 and 5 degrees respectively. Visual acuities entered are validated against Snellen for near and distance vision. If you double-click any of the Vision fields, the appropriate pick list will be displayed to allow for ‘point and shoot’ selection of vision as shown here for distance vision.

The ‘outcomes’ selection has been rationalised to ensure consistency of data. The following values have been removed from the FOCUS 1.0 list of Rx outcomes: CL Dispense, Dispense and Unknown. A new outcome of New Rx has been added. The values which have been changed are as a result of the ambiguities which are caused in reporting these values. CL Dispense and Dispense can be determined through use of the data recorded. New Rx is a clinical judgement related to No Rx and No Change.

In all the patient screens, the patient summary bar is displayed at the top of the screen to indicate which patient has been selected from the MPD, and the information displayed there is the Patient ID, Name, Date of Birth and Account balance.

The same functionality from this screen is retained and although there is no button shown in the screenshot above, there will be one by release time which will take you to a new spectacle dispense against the selected Rx for the patient. There is facility to print a record card with the selected Rx or to print a blank record card for the selected patient on the cards button. The button has been removed since the Patient CL Rx button is available on the left hand navigation bar. The Rx will be saved when you navigate away from this screen or take the Rx to dispense. Validation is performed against the individual fields and the system will ensure that the following fields have been completed before saving the record: Optician, Type and Outcome.
